Wormroot
A resilient crop that’s unique to the snow-ridden territories, where it has adapted to survive the bitter cold permafrost. This plant’s roots grow deep to draw up the scarce minerals found in the earth, while its frost-resistant stalks absorb what little sunlight is available in the short growing period. Its stalks grow like rooted worms up into the sky, but only a short distance.
Wormroot is commonly grown and harvested by the Camarian Conglomerate where it is turned into ale. Wormroot ale, unlike other alcohols, gives a chilling feeling to anyone who drinks it. It is harvested using large ship barrels covered in spikes that hoe the ground and take the top off of the plants when they’re ready to be harvested, leaving the deep roots in the ground to grow again for the next harvest.
