A type of fruit bearing deciduous shrub that grows around 5m tall. The Wemami fruit, purple-blue in colour has two parts to its husk; outer which is hard and fuzzy as well as inner  edible slimy and runny plasm once the husk has been broken. Its seeds are protected by the inner plasm and float around. The taste is often described as extremely sweet.
