Appearing from the aether made of dreams themselves, no one is really sure how Hyccolus came into existence. In reality, Hyccolus created themselves in that space, as a counterbalance to dream. Becoming aware of the mortals who added vast dreams to his birthplace, he settled on the Isles of Eyes where his followers were known for seeing great truths of past, present and future. When the Great Divide was created, and Sesmi scarred, Hyccolus helped the other divines, giving visions to mortal minds to make them believe that the Great Divide was made for them, not out of the selfish pursuit of the gods. Tarn then found out about this and later killed them and their followers, making the world, in time, forget they ever existed. But they knew that they would die, and knew that they had to die, in order to maintain balance. Seeing that Sesmi’s slumber was in peril after the scar stretched across their back, they knew that they had to return to dreams, return home, to help keep Sesmi’s dreams alive and thus prevent the end of everything.
